Game Schedule

TAK Picnic-2016 Volleyball Rules

Adult Teams

• Six (6) teams will be divided into two Groups A and B
• Teams will be randomly placed in A and B groups before the actual event.
• Each team will play one game with the other teams in the same group
• Therefore, there are three (3) games per group for a total of six (6) games at the group stage.
• The top team from each group will play FINALS.
• Finals could be either one game or best of three, which depends on the availability of time on the day of picnic. (potentially we will go with long game 21 points)

Finals Criteria

• The team with most number of wins will qualify for the finals
• If it is a tie, both teams play one more game or go with tossing.

Game Rules for Group Stage

• The first ball winner can choose either court or serve. This first point is not part of the game score.
• Each game is played for 15 points.
• The serving team ONLY gets the point.
• There is a strategic TIMEOUT of 3 minutes allowed for each side per game. You can use it any time or lose it. The captain will make the call.
• Players rotation is mandatory and they do rotate in clockwise direction when they get to serve. One cannot skip serving the ball.

Foul Rules

• Causing the ball to touch the ground or floor outside the opponents’ court or without first passing over the net
• Catching and throwing the ball.
• Net foul: touching the net during play
• More than three consecutive touches by the same team, unless it is a clear block. In case of a block, the same team can touch four times including the block.
• Two consecutive touches by the same player, unless it is a block. In case of a block, the same player can touch the ball again consecutively
• While serving, the front foot has to be outside or above the line; it cannot be completely miss the line.
• Playing with body parts other than hands and figures is considered as foul
• During play, border touched by the ball is considered as legal
• During play or serving net touched by the ball is considered as legal and game continues
• During play, one cannot go into opponents’ court and is considered as foul

TAK officials can impose more rules on a fly, if needed. Interpretations of the rules will be at the discretion of TAK Committee. The rules and the interpretations of them will be final and not open to protest.
